Noel Edmonds has received undisclosed libel damages after false allegations about his private life were made.
The Deal Or No Deal presenter separated from his wife in 2005. In October 2005, the Mail on Sunday published a story alleging that he had seduced a married woman, Marjan Simmons.
The story said that Edmonds had forced Simmons to leave her husband and live with himself, saying he had "exerted undue influence over her when she was vulnerable."
The allegations have since been proven to be untrue. The newspaper's lawyer Adam Cannon explained: "The defendant offers its apologies to the claimant and his family for the distress and embarrassment caused by the article."
Edmonds' lawyer added: "The publication of these allegations has caused damage to the claimant's personal and professional reputations, in addition to obvious distress to both himself, his family and Ms Simmons."
