Speaking to Parade magazine, the musician said that he strives to stay positive while living in the spotlight.
"I try to focus on the positive. Fame can be dangerous. I think it's important to stay focused on where you wanna go, what you're all about, and what you want to do with your work," the 49-year-old explained.
Billy Ray also said that he wants his famous daughter Miley Cyrus to continue doing what makes her happy.
"My wish for [Miley] is to be happy," revealed the 'Achy Breaky Heart' singer, who called off his plans to divorce Miley's mother Tish in March.
He added of Miley: "[I want her] to love what she's doing… As long as she's happy and loving making music - and I know she loves acting - that's all that matters."
The singer claimed that he wants all of his children to "live their life with purpose".
"I pray the same for Miley as I pray for my other kids - that they live their life with purpose knowing that it's about giving back and finding out what you can do in this world to hopefully make it a better place," he continued.
Miley recently insisted that her family is doing fine following the reunion of Billy Ray and Tish.
