The Australian supermodel, who was recently named one of the country's 'Most Beautiful People' in Who magazine, was sitting in a cafe yesterday when she heard two girls about a metre away discussing her inclusion in the list.
Gale immediately took to her Twitter page to make the girls' "nasty" comments public, writing: "Sitting in a cafe listening to 2 girls reading out loud article in paper re:Who Mag's Most Beautiful Issue (sic).
"They are commenting on me........ They don't know that I can hear them.. And they are being a little kind.. But mostly nasty.. What would you do in this situation??"
Gale then revealed that she looked at the girls and said "hi", to which one of them said "oh my God". She wrote: "The other, most venomous of the two smiled at me &had the audacity to say hi oh my god how are you?!..."
Describing the incident as "very Notting Hill", Gale said that she told the girls they should be careful what they say as "you never know who might be listening", and the pair soon left the cafe.
However, Gale later commented that press reports had been blown "way out of proportion", explaining that she planned to contact Channel Ten magazine show The Circle and "set things straight".
Gale recently revealed that she feels "better" than ever since shedding some weight.
