Amy Smart announces engagement

Amy Smart has confirmed her engagement to producer Carter Oosterhouse.

The star of the US version of Shameless told OK that she is "so happy" following the surprise proposal from her boyfriend and said that she feels he is the person she is meant to be with.

"I just got engaged on Sunday," she revealed. "I'm so happy. It was so beautiful, romantic and I was completely surprised. I'm just really happy and enjoying this time."

She continued: "I think [Carter is] an incredible man on so many levels. He's so kind, so respectful, loving… he's got so many qualities that I can't wait to spend my life with."

The 35-year-old, who has starred in movies such as Crank, Starship Troopers and Mirrors, also said that she would be happy to take her husband-to-be's name for personal reasons, but would not want to disassociate herself from her working past.

"I [would change my name] for personal reasons, but not for my professional name," she explained. "I mean, I got teased my whole childhood, but now I feel the need to live up to it. I like my last name!"
