Megan Gale has been accused of being fame-hungry.

The Australian supermodel, who split from comedian Andy Lee last year, recently revealed on Twitter that she had berated two girls who she overheard making "scornful" comments about her body while reading Who magazine's 'Most Beautiful People' list.

The two girls have now hit back at Gale, sending a fax to The Daily Telegraph saying: "It is human nature to talk about people who are in the public eye. We were having a private conversation. We didn't hop onto Twitter and make it public news, she did, so it seems to us that Megan is craving publicity.

"We are not mean or unkind, it was not all negative - one of us thinks she's stunning and the other thinks she is pretty but not amazing. She handled it with class by confronting us politely and yes we were taken aback but you know what, she hopped onto Twitter to broadcast it, not us."

Gale added: "I completely understand that I will not always be [everyone's] cup of tea and not appeal to everyone and I'm totally fine with that. Although with that said... I still don't see the need for people to be hateful and negative, especially women hating on other women.

"I think they were pretty shocked when they saw me... I was laughing about it though. It's just strange that for some reason we seem far more quick to judge and be negative, rather than be positive and encouraging and support one another."
