Ryan Phillippe kids 'have paparazzi game'

Ryan Phillippe has revealed that he and ex-wife Reese Witherspoon have invented a game to keep their children safe from the paparazzi.

The Lincoln Lawyer star, who separated from the Oscar-winning actress in October 2006, confessed that he still struggles to cope when photographers appear around 11-year-old Ava and 7-year-old Deacon.

He told People: "Sometimes we'll make it a game. I'll be like, let's sneak out the back and so they can't get a picture of us. We'll make it a little team effort thing that they can kind of get into.

"Reese and I both do a lot of explaining. I think the best thing you can do for kids in any situation is to over-explain even, and really go into detail and say, okay all they want is a photograph and it's worth money to them because Mum does movies, Dad does movies."

Phillippe further expressed hope that his explanation of celebrity would prevent his children from lashing out at the paparazzi as they became older, as they are already beginning to tire of the attention.

He said: "My son is a little more carefree, but [Ava is] becoming a young woman. She's 11 years old and she doesn't want to be photographed and be seen by her friends in magazines all the time."

Phillippe, who is currently dating Amanda Seyfried, previously claimed that he enjoys being a "hands-on" father.
