Wayne Rooney joins Twitter after Coleen taunts

Wayne Rooney has joined Twitter after his wife Coleen began to receive abuse on her profile.

The Man Utd footballer signed up to the social networking site on Saturday under the name 'Wazzaroon 08' - a nod to his nickname 'Wazza' and his team's 2008 Champion's League win in Moscow.

After a failed first message meant for teammate Rio Ferdinand, the 25-year-old wrote: "Hi all this is Wayne Rooney just started so bare with me. Hope all is well."

Wayne, who has so far collected over 187,000 followers, appeared to have been spurred into signing up after users taunted Coleen about his alleged infidelity during her pregnancy last year.

After receiving a Tweet referring to Wayne's reported affair with a prostitute last year, the TV presenter commented back: "Don't be bothered about my life love!!!"

The couple temporarily lived apart in the wake of Wayne's cheating claims, but reunited last September.
