Sources have told TMZ that Franklin was picked up by police in Culver City on Saturday morning while under the influence of alcohol.
While the exact nature of her offence is not yet known, it is thought that she spent time in police custody and was only released after posting a $100 bail.
After being introduced to Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland while appearing in the group's music video for 'Bills, Bills, Bills' in 1999, she joined Destiny's Child alongside Michelle Williams after the dismissal of LaTavia Roberson and LeToya Luckett.
The singer's stint with Destiny's Child proved to be short-lived as she was fired in July 2000, mere months after making her debut with the group.
In the years since her sacking, Franklin has collaborated with the likes of Sean Paul and Method Man on solo singles, as well appearing on the reality TV series Millionaire Matchmaker.
Last year, Franklin professed that she would be willing to take part in a Destiny's Child reunion.
