The England captain was shown speaking a few words of the language on BBC Two's Grumpy Old Men.
Lynam joked, "He's doing well with the Spanish isn't he? He's got virtually a whole sentence out there now. It's pretty good and I think he's done rather well with it. I mean, he's only lived there a year. That's not nearly long enough to get the second sentence out."
Beckham admits that he has struggled with the language since moving to Real Madrid in 2003.
"I will get there," he said recently, "but I need time."
