Published Sunday, Apr 16 2006, 01:13 BST | By Dave West
Lara Croft has entered the Guinness Book of Records as the Most Successful Human Videogame Heroine.
The character has become a global star, selling more than 28 million Tomb Raider games, appearing on stage with U2 and gracing the cover of more than 200 magazines.
Propelling her fame even further, Croft has found Hollywood success with Angelina Jolie portraying her in two movies. They have reportedly taken her licensing value to more than $1 billion.
Karima Adebibe, the Brit chosen as the latest Croft embodiment, has recently been trained in combat and weapon use in Eastern Europe and taken a course in archaeology.
For her next video game, Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Legend, Croft will be reunited with her maker Toby Gard. The game creator has not worked on a Tomb Raider since the first in 1996.
