The filmmaker stumbled and fell while climbing the stairs at Glasgow Sheriff Court, which was closed for the bank holiday, and was rushed to the nearby Royal Infirmary, a source told The Daily Record.
"Lots of the crew were rushing around in a huge panic," the insider claimed. "Ken slipped on a step coming up from the canteen and cracked his head."
A spokesperson for the Royal Infirmary later confirmed that Loach had been kept overnight in order to be observed by physicians.
Loach has directed more than 20 feature films over the course of his lengthy career and has received numerous awards, including the Cannes Film Festival's Special Jury prize on two occasions for Hidden Agenda and Raining Stones.
The helmer's latest thriller, 2010's Route Irish, traced the story of a security contractor probing the true cause of his friend's mysterious death.
