The Australian comedian, who is up against The Circle presenter Swan in the Gold Logie award category, said that he tried to put her mind at rest when she confessed she was nervous about what people would think of her.
Swan has been criticised by stars such as Eddie McGuire who reportedly think that she is not worthy of her three nominations having been on television for a year.
Hills told the Herald Sun: "I [told Chrissie], 'Everyone apart from five people are going to be jealous of you. Everyone else in that room is going to wish they were you. No one's going to look down on you.' It's nerve-racking, so it was lovely to be able to talk someone else through it."
He also said that he doesn't think he will win the Gold award despite being nominated four times, but he said that it would be a "triumph of technology" if he did.
The favourite to win the prize is Packed To The Rafters actress Rebecca Gibney. Also nominated in the category are Gibney's co-star Jessica Marais, morning TV presenter Karl Stefanovic and Offspring's Asher Keddie.
The 53rd annual Logie Awards take place on Sunday, May 1 at the Crown Entertainment Complex in Melbourne.
