Reports had claimed that blocking technology would be implemented from Friday morning and continue to be in use until the end of the wedding ceremony after a request from senior members of the royal family.
It was suggested that the signal jamming would prevent any ringtones from sounding and also stop guests from posting messages on Twitter during the ceremony.
However, technology correspondent at The Daily Telegraph Christopher Williams wrote on Twitter: "Met spokesman says claims there will be mobile jammers at W. Abbey are 'absolute garbage'."
He then quipped: "So tweet away, representatives of despots."
