The stand-up wrote a comedic piece for The Guardian today, which mocked the media depiction of Middleton as a "lowly commoner".
Asked about his feelings on the royal wedding, Lee told Digital Spy: "To be honest, I hadn't given it any thought. I didn't even know when it was. Then they asked me to write something about it, so I just wrote that.
"I didn't really know anything about it, other than you read the odd thing. I thought it was funny how you get these space-filling pieces where people try to wax lyrically about things they don't really know anything about."
He added: "There also seemed to be a weird thing where tabloidy papers are very sniffy about Kate Middleton not being posh enough - and yet she's much posher than any of them.
"I just thought about all the things that are in the air at the moment, like [David] Cameron's suits. Every now and again the mask slips with Cameron, doesn't it? Which suit to wear, things like that.
"So I jumbled it all up and tried to write it simultaneously in the styles of lots of different columnist thinkpieces about the royal wedding. It was good fun - I really enjoy doing stuff like that."
Asked if he would watch the ceremony himself, Lee said: "I don't know - my wife will because she's writing a lot about it for her stand-up. I probably won't, but I don't dislike them, they seem very nice! I hope they're very happy. I just think in the current climate it does seem a bit like bread and circuses."
Series two of Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle premieres this Wednesday at 11.20pm on BBC Two.
