The singer, who is best known for her hit singles 'Walk On By' and 'Do You Know The Way To San Jose?', has claimed that the new Broadway musical used her as a character without her permission.
According to The Daily Telegraph, lawyers representing Warwick and other musicians such as the Shirelles and Beverly Lee united to sue for damages due to the "brazen unauthorised use of their names and likenesses" just hours before the first performance of the show.
A spokesperson for the case, which was filed in Manhattan Supreme Court on Tuesday, said: "Defendants are cashing in on [the] plaintiff's stories and successes, while using plaintiffs' names, likenesses and biographical without their consent and in violation of the law."
It is unlikely that the musical will finish its Broadway run unless the case is resolved.
The musical tells the story of Florence Greenberg, the Jersey housewife who discovered the Shirelles.
Last month, Warwick revealed that she will not vote for Donald Trump if he does carry out his wish to run for the US presidency.
