On Sunday, Cannon confirmed on his Twitter account that he and Carey reaffirmed their commitment to one another in a ceremony held in an undisclosed medical centre, writing: "Yep, we just had a wedding in the hospital!"
He also thanked politician and community activist Reverend Al Sharpton for travelling to LA in order to officiate the vows.
Posting on his official own Twitter page, Sharpton professed that he was very impressed by Cannon and Carey's spiritual dedication.
"I am just leaving Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon. She had twins yesterday on their 3rd anniversary. I had prayer with them and the babies," he noted.
Sharpton later added: "I also conducted the renewal of their vows and the blessing of the newborn twins. Mariah looks GREAT, and the babies are beautiful."
The couple married three years ago in the Bahamas in a ceremony attended by family and friends at Carey's private home. The couple met while filming Carey's music video for 'Bye Bye'. Cannon confirmed that he and his spouse were expecting twins in December 2010.
The birth of Carey and Cannon's twins has been met with messages of congratulations from celebrities including Nicki Minaj and Alyssa Milano.
