The Australian comedian and writer, who is best known for creating Summer Heights High, made the admission after Perry revealed at the Logie Awards that she could not wait to meet him.
Lilley, who arrived at the afterparty just after Perry left at 3am, told the Herald Sun: "I am terrified of her."
Perry was spotted visiting the Nine Network and Channel Ten celebrations at Melbourne's Crown Casino before moving on to the South Yarra nightclub.
She later turned up at the Seven Network's afterparty at the Metropol, where she chatted to Packed to the Rafters actress Jessica Marais. Marais was reportedly later overheard exclaiming that it wouldn't be classed as cheating on partner and co-star James Stewart if she kissed Perry.
Hugh Sheridan, Manu Feildel and Molly Meldrum were all spotted celebrating too.
The first trailer for Lilley's latest creation Angry Boys was released in March. He recently defended the show after being accused of racist slurs with some of the characters, saying: "[It's] so blatantly obvious that it's really funny."
