Mark-Paul Gosselaar 'files for custody'

Mark-Paul Gosselaar has filed for joint custody of his two children.

The Franklin & Bash star - who has 7-year-old Michael Charles and 5-year-old Ava Lorenn with ex-wife Lisa Russell - lodged documents in Los Angeles last month.

However, Russell has also requested a similar arrangement, having filed her own joint custody petition on April 1 as well as a demand for spousal support.

The former couple were married for fourteen years before filing for divorce in June 2010, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split. A statement released at the time of the couple's separation confirmed that they are "focused on their family and... jointly committed to their children".

Gosselaar is best known for his roles on Saved By The Bell and Raising The Bar and has made guest appearances on several shows, including Weeds and Rizzoli & Isles.

Franklin & Bash premieres on June 1 at 9/8c on TNT.
