Jewel, Ty Murray hope baby son has a passion

Jewel has confessed that she and husband Ty Murray are "excited" about becoming first-time parents.

The couple announced the pregnancy in January 2011, subsequently revealing that they would be welcoming a baby boy later this year.

In an interview with Parade, the country star revealed that she and Murray are looking forward to meeting their child and seeing what type of person he will grow up to be.

"I'm excited to have a partner in my husband and to go down a new road together. We're both really excited," she explained. "We just hope he has a passion and something he likes to do - whether it's accounting or music or sports, it's fine with us!"

She went on to say that the pair's Texas ranch will provide a great space in which to raise their son, adding: "I grew up on a ranch in Alaska and have always really loved having a lot of space around me. My job has always been centred around trying to do my best work and less about Hollywood, so for me, living on a ranch really lets me focus on that goal.

"And it's going to be a great place to raise a child. Work ethic is important and not being spoiled, and I think ranches help you accomplish that in a natural way."

Jewel was involved in a two-car collision in March, though she and the baby were unharmed.
