Philip Treacy has opened up about the hat that he made for Princess Beatrice to wear at Prince William and Kate's wedding last week.
The milliner's designs for both Beatrice and her younger sister Princess Eugenie attracted criticism following Friday's ceremony. However, Treacy has now stepped in to defend his work.
He told Hollywood Life: "My inspiration was beauty and elegance - it's a 21st century royal wedding.

"They didn't tell me [what they wanted] because I've known them for a long time... I thought they looked gorgeous and beautiful. But no-one is crying if anyone didn't [like them]."
Treacy further added: "When you're wearing something on your head, you feel beautiful."
A Facebook page entitled 'Princess Beatrice's ridiculous royal wedding hat' now has over 134,000 fans. It has attracted over 1,500 photoshopped images from contributors which show the bow-shaped headpiece in a variety of scenarios.
