Charlie Gilmour has pleaded guilty to violent disorder during the student fees protests in London on December 9.

According to Sky News, Gilmour, 21, of Billinghurst, West Sussex, admitted the charge at Kingston Crown Court this morning.

BBC News confirms that the non-specific plea was given by Gilmour in relation to the attack on a convoy of cars carrying Prince Charles on that day.

The Cambridge University student was accused of throwing a bin at the cars and of sitting on the vehicle of a royal protection officer. Gilmour has not specified if he admits jumping on the car.

Bail has been granted until July 8 to allow Gilmour to complete his exams, but he has been warned that he could be given a jail sentence after this date.

The son of Pink Floyd guitarist David issued a public apology the following day after being photographed hanging from a Union Flag on the Cenotaph during the protests.

He was arrested soon after on suspicion of violent disorder and attempted criminal damage, before being released on bail.

He was charged in January with "violent disorder and theft of a mannequin leg" and later with the alleged violent disorder offence, in relation to the attack on a Rolls-Royce carrying the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall in Regent Street.
