Jay Mohr, Nikki Cox welcome first child

Comedian Jay Mohr and actress Nikki Cox welcomed their first child together yesterday, named Meredith Daniel Mohr after Cox's mother.

The former Las Vegas actress gave birth to a healthy baby boy on Thursday weighing 6lb, 7oz.

"We are over the moon, filled with joy, and every other cliché new parents use," the couple confirmed to E! News. "He's perfect."

While Meredith is Cox's first child, Mohr is already father to 8-year-old Jack from a previous relationship.

Cox was best known for starring in the '90s sitcom Unhappily Ever After, before starring in the first four seasons of the NBC series Las Vegas.

Mohr himself is both an actor and a stand-up comedian who rose to fame after starring opposite Tom Cruise in the romantic comedy Jerry Maguire, but more recently was confirmed for a guest stint on the final season of Law & Order: Criminal Intent.

The couple wed in December 2006, and in 2008 Cox successfully petitioned to allow Mohr to add his wife's surname to his own, officially becoming Jay Ferguson Cox Mohr in the process.
