Reese Witherspoon's life is "totally bizarre"

Reese Witherspoon has revealed that her husband Jim Toth is amazed by her life in the public eye.

The Water for Elephants actress, who married the Hollywood agent in a small ceremony in March, explained that he finds her celebrity status "bizarre".

She told You: "He thinks it's totally bizarre. I think you have an instinct when you're with the person you want to build a life with. You learn more as you get older about what you need in a partner."

Witherspoon, who has children Ava, 11, and Deacon, 8, from her previous marriage to actor Ryan Phillippe, said it helps that her husband understands what her job involves.

Asked if it is easier to be with someone who is not an actor, she replied: "I wouldn't say it's easier; every relationship has its own dynamic. But it helps that he understands what I do for a living."

The 35-year-old also described parenthood as the ultimate challenge.

She added: "Being a parent is the hardest thing on earth. It breaks your heart when your children are unhappy and you feel incredible joy when they are happy."
