A fan has filed a lawsuit against Snoop Dogg, Game, Kurupt, Daz Dillinger and Soopafly, after claiming that he was beaten after being called onto stage during a concert.
Richard Monroe II, from Kent, Washington, claimed that he was beaten soundly by security guards after being invited to come up on stage during Snoop Dogg's performance of his legendary cut Gin and Juice. He said that when he attempted to place his arms around Snoop in a friendly manner, he was grabbed by bodyguards who punched him and stomped on his prone form for approximately 35 seconds.
Monroe, 25, also insists that the rappers themselves joined in on the beating. Monroe’s lawyers say their client was robbed of his wallet, rings and cell phone as well.
His lawyers claim that "Monroe did nothing suggestive of hostility and nothing whatsoever to provoke the violent response that ensued," and are seeking $20 million in damages.
Previously, Snoop Dogg's spokeswoman Meredith O'Sullivan has commented with regards to the artist's tough line on security: "Any person who jumps onstage at a concert has to be interpreted as a security threat and an immediate risk. ... Once breach of security has been made, authorities are forced to take the proper measures."
