Doherty arrested again on drugs suspicion

Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty has been arrested yet again on suspicion of drugs possession.

Plain clothes officers on routine patrol brought in Doherty, 27, and another man, aged 21, on Thursday afternoon after stopping their car on Roman Road in London's E2.

"They were arrested on suspicion of possessing what was believed to be class A drugs with the intent to supply," confirmed a spokesman for Scotland Yard. Class A drugs include cocaine, heroin and amphetamines.

The arrest came just hours after Doherty avoided a jail term for being caught with cocaine, cannabis and heroin.

The judge in that case acknowledged that Doherty was "showing significant signs of compliance and effort" with his drugs rehabilitation before sentencing him to two years' probation, a 6-month driving ban and an 18-month narcotics rehabilitation programme.
