Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have been sued by a former employee who claims that she was unfairly dismissed from her post at their French home.

The unidentified woman worked as a translator for the staff at the A-list couple's £25 million Chateau Miraval in the village of Brignol, but was fired by a manager after taking sick leave.

She is now seeking $118,800 (£68,762) from Pitt and Jolie for failing to prevent her being let go, reports Reuters.

Her lawyer said: "She has nothing against them. But they did not step in to prevent her being dismissed. This amount is a drop in the ocean for these stars."

A tribunal is due to deliver its verdict on the matter next month.

Pitt and Jolie recently advertised for a bilingual nanny to work at Chateau Miraval on a £90,000 salary.

The couple are also rumoured to be adopting another child.
