Nick Cannon 'buys Mariah $12,000 necklace'

Nick Cannon has given wife Mariah Carey a necklace worth over $12,000 (£7,100) as a present for Mother's Day.

The America's Got Talent host purchased the the 4-carat diamond and sapphire piece from LA boutique Jason of Beverly Hills to commemorate the recent birth of their twin babies.

"Nick was really excited about the babies' names and wanted to do a piece with them for Mariah's first Mother's Day," jeweler Jason Arasheben told People.

A source added: "Nick came in and met with Jason on the Friday after his twins were born. He was bleary eyed, looking so tired but so happy - all smiles, saying he wanted to design something special for Mariah's first Mother's Day. He couldn't want to surprise her on Sunday."

The couple welcomed son Moroccan and daughter Monroe on April 30, later describing the new additions as "incredible gifts".

Cannon recently revealed that he would like to have more children with Carey in the future.
