Mel C: 'Marriage might ruin my relationship'

Mel C has admitted that she doesn't feel the need to marry her partner Tom Starr.

The pair have 2-year-old daughter Scarlet together but Mel said that she now feels "superstitious" about tying the knot with her boyfriend of nine years.

Mel, who has recently started work on her fifth solo album, explained to You: "Having Scarlet has made us stronger, to share such a wonderful thing. But no, marriage is not on the cards.

"We're just happy the way we are. We've been happily together for nine years and it's a superstitious thing - if we marry, will it change? It's cool."

However, Mel and Starr plan to have more children together and Mel looks forward to telling her offspring about her Spice Girls days.

Asked if Scarlet knows that her mum is famous, Mel replied: "For her it's just normal. But I suppose I'm part of history. I'll be able to show my children - I really want her to have siblings - the cover of Rolling Stone and say, 'Look, that was mummy'."

Mel recently revealed that her daughter saved her from depression.
