The two worked together during O'Donnell's one-year tenure as co-host of daytime series The View, but frequently clashed on-air due to their opposing political beliefs.
Weeks before her deal was scheduled to expire in 2007, O'Donnell and Hasselbeck engaged in a particularly heated debate over the legitimacy of the Iraq war, wherein both women accused the other of cowardice.
The flare-up led to ABC agreeing to release O'Donnell of her contractual obligations weeks before her deal actually expired.
In an apparent attempt to make peace with her former co-worker, O'Donnell sent a message to Hasselbeck earlier this week complimenting the View star's children.
O'Donnell wrote: "Hey - how r ur new babies? - how is gracie? I saw her photo - she is beautiful … (sic)"
The message drew a receptive reply from Hasselbeck, who indicated that she would like to meet with O'Donnell face-to-face.
"kids are great @rosie I bet yours are keeping you smiling! Are we really talking on twitter? How about lunch? Gluten free pizza & good talk," Hasselbeck responded.
Taking Hasselbeck up on her invitation, O'Donnell invited the TV personality to contact her so they could speak in person.
O'Donnell is to make her return to television later this year to host a new series for the Oprah Winfrey Network.
In April, she confirmed that she is still dating girlfriend Tracy Kachtick-Anders in spite of recent press reports to the contrary.
