Scott Weiland: 'I was raped at the age of 11'

Former Velvet Revolver frontman Scott Weiland has revealed that he was sexually abused as a child.

Weiland revealed the abuse in his forthcoming memoir Not Dead & Not For Sale, where he claims that an older classmate raped him at the age of 11.

"[I remember a] big muscular guy, a high school senior, [who] rode the bus with me every day to school, invited me to his house," Weiland explained, according to an extract posted on Spin. "The dude raped me. It was quick, not pleasant."

Weiland explained that the man threatened him not to tell anyone about the rape, recalling:
"I was too scared to tell anyone. 'Tell anyone,' he warned, 'and you'll never have another friend in this school'."

The rock star said that he had repressed the memory of his rape until a number of years ago following intense therapy sessions during his stint in rehab.

Weiland's ex-wife Mary Forsberg released her own memoir two years ago detailing the former couple's heavy heroin use.
