David Beckham to launch underwear line

David Beckham has confirmed that he will be launching a new underwear line this year.

The footballer, who will reportedly welcome his baby girl on July 4, has teamed up with American Idol creator Simon Fuller to produce the collection.

He told Women's Wear Daily: "It's not my natural inclination to see myself as a brand; I'm just a person who has been fortunate to explore other interests and passions outside of the game I love.

"I will always be associated with my sport but I am now working across other areas that will continue long after my career has finished."

The 36-year-old, who previously represented fashion label Emporio Armani briefs, joked that his mother might not be very pleased to see him posing in his underwear.

He quipped: "I'm not sure my mum will be too happy seeing a billboard image of me in underwear again."

The athlete is also due to release a fragrance called 'Homme' by David Beckham.
