Copperfield magically fools armed robbers

Illusionist David Copperfield has used his magic to avoid being mugged.

The 49-year-old was walking back to his tour bus with two women after a show at the weekend when four teenagers pulled up in a black car, demanding their belongings.

The two women obliged without hesitation, giving away all their money as well as a mobile phone and a passport. Copperfield, however, gave them nothing.

He turned his pockets inside out to reveal they were empty, despite the fact that he was carrying his passport, his wallet and a mobile phone. As the car pulled away, the triumphant illusionist noted the registration number, and the police were informed.

The teenagers were arrested and charged with armed robbery, and the women's belongings were returned to them.

In an attempt to explain the happenings to the Palm Beach Post, Copperfield grinned: "Call it reverse pickpocketing."
