Paulina Porizkova reveals drug addiction

Former supermodel Paulina Porizkova has revealed that her short stint on Dancing With The Stars led her to begin an addiction to antidepressants.

In her column for the Huffington Post, Porizkova revealed that following her disastrous stint on the show back in 2008 - in which she was eliminated first - her anxiety
worsened and she begin taking the drug Lexapro.

"My ego travelled back to the ninth grade, when I was the least popular kid in school and just couldn't figure out what I had done wrong to be so disliked," Porizkova said.

The model also claimed she was ostracised on the set of America's Next Top Model after people discovered she was on medication during a routine insurance check.

Porizkova said an intense exercise regime helped her to quit the drug after two years, but insisted that there can be a real danger in taking prescription drugs.

"I'm certainly not an anti-medicine crusader," she added. "[But] I'm starting to wonder whether antidepressants can often be the emotional equivalent of plastic surgery."

Porizkova served on the America's Next Top Model judging panel for three seasons before being fired in 2009.
