Published Friday, Apr 28 2006, 06:22 BST | By Matthew Houghton
David Blaine has announced plans for his latest stunt - to spend seven days submerged in a water-filled tank in New York.
The illusionist, who in 2003 spent 44 days in a glass box suspended above the Thames, will use lines providing air and nutrition to stay alive.
After his week-long ordeal, Blaine will remove his air supply and attempt to break the world record for holding breath. It currently stands at eight minutes and 58 seconds.
The magician will enter the 8ft sphere, located in the Lincoln Centre for the Performing Arts, on May 1.
