Lindsay Lohan: 'My mistakes teach my sister'

Lindsay Lohan has revealed that her younger sister Ali has learnt from her.

The actress, who is said to be dropping her surname, explained that her 17-year-old sibling knows "what not to do" because of the mistakes she herself has made.

She told OK: "She's seen a lot of stuff that I've experienced and she knows exactly what not to do. So she kind of knows better through watching me."

The 24-year-old, who was recently sentenced to three years' probation for allegedly stealing a necklace, has admitted that fame can ruin people.

She commented: "You want the attention and you want the fans and you want to be in magazines. But over time that kind of thing can become all it's about. It can harm a lot of people's careers. I've experienced that. People believe what they read."

However, Lohan said that she is not concerned that Ali will follow in her footsteps because she believes her little sister is "tougher" than she is.

She added: "She has a good head on her shoulders. Maybe it was different for me because I didn't know what to expect and it just happened really fast. I didn't have a big sister.

"If I'm going out late, she'll go home early."
