The comedic actor, who rose to fame for his role as Alan Garner in the 2009 film The Hangover, admitted that he tries to stay out of Hollywood as much as possible.
"I think a lot of comedic actors get lost in this world of Hollywood and all this stuff," Galifianakis told Coming Soon. "They lose what brought them there in the first place.
"You get swallowed up in it. I keep my distance as much as I can."
The actor explained that he also dislikes having to promote his films but has to accept it as part of his job.
"Privacy is big for me. To do interviews even, I have a love/hate with it," Galifianakis admitted. "Talking about it almost ruins it in a way, but you have to promote the movie so it's one of the Catch-22s of it."
Galifianakis recently said that being loved by everyone was "like poison" to a comedian.
The Hangover director Todd Phillips recently confirmed that he is considering the possibility of filming a third and final entry in the series.
The Hangover Part II will be released in both the US and the UK on May 26.
