Molly Meldrum has revealed his anger at someone impersonating him on Twitter.

The Australian entertainer, who returned to TV screens on Hey Hey It's Saturday in 2009, warned his 1,200 fans not to follow the fake account that uses his name and photograph, lists his management company and mentions his pet dog Ziggy.

Meldrum told the Herald Sun: "It's an imposter. I'm not on Twitter. We think we know who it is. We're working on getting it shut down, but if anyone is following it, they should know it's not me."

The star said that he is furious that the hoax user has published details of his personal assistant, his interview schedule and even pictures of his home since setting up the account at the beginning of the month.

Australian actress Teresa Palmer had to get a fake Twitter account closed down earlier this year and supermodel Jesinta Campbell revealed yesterday that her page on the microblogging site had been hacked.

A hoax post on the website in March claiming that Charlie Sheen had died was also used to spread a computer virus.
