The Golden Girls and Hot in Cleveland star is seen telling people who are reluctant to join the organisation because they think it would make them feel old to "get over it".
White, who became a spokesperson for the AARP earlier this year, told reporters: "So many of us start dreading age in high school and that's a waste of a lovely life. 'Oh… I'm 30, oh, I'm 40, oh, 50.' Make the most of it."
The AARP, which was founded in 1958 as the American Association for Retired Persons, is a non-profit social welfare organisation for Americans aged 50 or over.
It provides subscribers with products and services like insurance in addition to acting as an advocate for older people's needs.
The 89-year-old actress and comedienne won a Primetime Emmy last year for her appearance as a guest host on Saturday Night Live.
Her TV Land sitcom Hot in Cleveland has been commissioned for a third season.
