The Oprah Winfrey Show's finale will see the presenter highlighting her favourite clips from the show's history and talking openly about how her life has been forever altered by the series, sources at Tuesday's taping told NBC.
Following the grandeur of last week's all-star Surprise Oprah! A Farewell Spectacular gala thrown in her honour at Chicago's United Centre, the at-times tearful Winfrey chose to wrap up her 25-year run by expressing gratitude for her dedicated fans.
Winfrey is believed to have told the studio audience: "This is my love letter to you."
No celebrities were interviewed during the taping, but several of Winfrey's well-known friends, such as her partner Stedman Graham, Gayle King, director Tyler Perry and Maria Shriver, were present in the studio audience.
Winfrey's fourth grade teacher Mary Duncan - who the host previously credited with helping her recognise her own potential at a young age - was also at the recording.
The Oprah Winfrey Show wraps up its run today after more than 4,000 episodes.
