The King's Speech star explained that he is kept "down to earth" by helping around the house.
The Oscar winner, who previously insisted that he won't let the Academy Award change him, told the Daily Mail: "My wife keeps me down to earth. I have to do the washing-up and put the bins out like many other husbands!"
The actor was speaking before having dinner with the Queen and Barack Obama in London. He explained that he is "generally" a fan of the US president.
He commented: "I am looking forward to meeting President Obama and am generally an admirer, but not 100%."
Firth recently signed up for an untitled dark comedy with Emily Blunt.
