Saatchi turns to web for budding artists
Published Saturday, Apr 29 2006, 16:33 BST | By Matthew Houghton
Art mogul Charles Saatchi has launched a 'Your Gallery' section on his Saatchi Gallery website.
Saatchi, whose taste for young British artists like Damien Hirst and Tracy Emin progressed the modern art movement significantly during the early 1990s, says that its main aim is to help the wider art community.
The site allows artists to post their work for free and offers the opportunity for collectors and dealers to buy paintings directly from the artist.
A statement read: "The viability and relevance of the project might also impact on the way that much business is conducted in the art world in the future."
Artist Stella Vine admitted, "I wish this had been available to me when I first started."
