The comic told his TBS audience that since Oprah Winfrey received the dedication of a Chicago city block in recognition of her more than 25 years working in the city, his own 22-month stay in LA is worthy of a similar tribute.
The Conan host teased: "I've been here in Los Angeles for 22 months. You see where I'm going with this? Isn't it time I got a street named after me?"
O'Brien further explained that he and his staff had already selected West Raymer street in Van Nuys as the perfect spot to rechristen 'Conan O'Brien Way'.
Van Nuys is currently home to one celebrity street dedication - its Marbro Ave was created in memory of the Marx Brothers comedy troupe.
O'Brien famously spent the majority of his on-air career helming NBC's Late Night from New York City, but moved to Los Angeles in 2009 to take over as host of The Tonight Show.
He chose to stay in Los Angeles to host his latest chatshow for TBS after being sacked by NBC in January 2010.
