The 'Smile' singer insisted that her decision to leave showbusiness had nothing to do with a need to escape the spotlight but was more about having lost her passion for music and wanting to spend more time with fiancé Sam Cooper.
"That's why I made that decision. It was never about... I feel disgusting talking about this, because it's like, I still want to be famous, I just don't want to sing," she explained in an interview with The Sunday Times' Style magazine.
Allen, who currently owns vintage clothes shop Lucy In Disguise with sister Sarah Owen in London's Covent Garden neighbourhood, went on to say that even if she wanted to escape fame, it would not be financially possible.
"I knew I had to do something else, because I'm not wealthy enough not to work for the rest of my life. You don't get paid to be in magazines and I'm accustomed to living in a certain way. I like having my nice house and filling it with nice things," she said.
"I'd like to be in that position for the rest of my life, so obviously I'm going to have to work."
Allen and Cooper will marry in a private ceremony to be held on June 11 in Gloucestershire. She previously blasted the "d**k" responsible for leaking the couple's 'save the date' card to the media.
