The True Blood actor spoke to Arcade Fire's frontman Win Butler for Interview magazine, stating that he was reduced to tears by his Swedish classmates when he wore a pair of cowboy boots to school.
"I spent two months in Fredericksburg, Texas, when I was 8, while my father shot a movie," Skarsgård said. "I got myself a pair of awesome boots and a cowboy hat. Then I got back to Sweden in September to go back to school, and I was so proud of my cowboy boots."
Skarsgård continued: "I showed up [for school] and everyone was like, 'Dude, why are you wearing ladies' boots?' They didn't really work in Sweden. I wore them that one day, and then I ran home and cried and never wore those boots again."
The 34-year-old recently revealed that he needs distance from the popular HBO series, saying that he finds it discouraging when he is typecast in roles similar to that of True Blood's Eric Northman.
In May, Skarsgård admitted that filming sex scenes with True Blood co-star Anna Paquin is hard, claiming that Paquin is more like a sister to him.
True Blood returns for a fourth season on June 26 at 9pm on HBO.
