Maksim Chmerkovskiy 'not engaged'

A rep for Maksim Chmerkovskiy has denied reports that the Dancing with the Stars professional is engaged to be married.

Chmerkovskiy was rumoured to have popped the question to a contestant on the Ukraine version of The Bachelor, which he appeared on this season, after presenting the unnamed woman with a ring during the show's season finale.

However, his rep insisted that the relationship is no longer on, telling Access Hollywood in a statement: "Maks did not propose. He gave her a promise ring - it did not work out. He's currently single."

Chmerkovskiy recently dismissed reports that he and fellow Dancing with the Stars professional Cheryl Burke are an item, insisting that the pair are "just friends".

Chmerkovskiy and partner Kirstie Alley came in second place during this year's Dancing with the Stars.

Alley previously described Chmerkovskiy as "a great teacher and handsome". The pair vowed to remain lifelong friends following the show's finale.
