The 'Beautiful Girls' singer was rushed to hospital after his aquatic vehicle collided with a Miami bridge last month.
The 21-year-old is said to be in a stable condition and expected to make a full recovery within the next six weeks.
However, Kingston could face severe legal repercussions for crashing in a "manatee zone", an area heavily populated with the endangered animals and subject to strict laws to protect their wellbeing.
Florida law enforcement sources told TMZ that officials are attempting to determine whether Kingston's Jet Ski produced a wake before the incident, a forbidden act that carries with it a maximum penalty of $32,500 (£19,700).
Little is known about the events prior to Kingston "losing control" of his craft, though authorities have ruled that the star did not drink an excessive amount of alcohol before crashing.
