Guy Sebastian has taken revenge on a prank caller.

The Australian singer, who is a judge on the Aussie version of The X Factor, was so sick of somebody who kept calling him and his wife Jules then hanging up that he posted the culprit's mobile number on his Twitter page.

According to the Herald Sun, Sebastian then asked his 40,000 followers to help him return the favour, saying: "This bloke keeps pranking me. Feel free to return the favour."

The musician later regretted his actions, writing: "Ok in hindsight prob not a nice thing to do. But when it's all hours of the night and some prankers abuse the hell out of u, u can lose it (sic)."

The anonymous man's phone number has since been disconnected and, contrary to rumours, Sebastian's manager Titus Day insisted that police have not been involved.

The X Factor host Luke Jacobz recently revealed that Sebastian has been competing with fellow judge Ronan Keating to be the "meanest" person on the panel, saying: "Because we don't have the mean guy [and former judge] Kyle [Sandilands], the guys have turned a bit mean. They are not relying on Kyle to say the mean stuff and are not scared to tell contestants what they really think. There have been plenty of tears."

After Sandilands and Natalie Imbruglia decided not to reprise their roles on the show, new judges Mel B and Natalie Bassingthwaighte were brought in as replacements.
