'Golden Girls' theme song scribe dies, aged 59

Songwriter Andrew Gold has died of a heart attack at the age of 59.
Gold wrote a number of hit TV theme songs including music for The Golden Girls and Mad About You. He was undergoing treatment for cancer in Los Angeles when he suffered a fatal heart attack, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The late songwriter, who penned his first song at the tender age of 13, worked with numerous musical celebrities, including Celine Dion and Art Garfunkel.
His most recognised work is the composition 'Lonely Boy', a piece that has been featured in a number of films such as Boogie Nights and Water Boy.
Gold leaves behind his wife, three daughters and his mother Marni Nixon.
Golden Girls star Betty White recently launched a new AARP campaign, advising aging individuals to make the most of life.
White's current television series Hot in Cleveland was renewed for a third season in March.
