The Tropic Thunder actor spoke to New York Magazine about his new movie The Trip, stating that vanity drives his exercise regime.
"Vanity," Coogan said, "is a great motivator. I used to run in Central Park to pretend I was in a movie. Now I run in the hope someone recognizes me."
The comedian went on to declare that he is not discouraged by any lack of recognition.
"I've been in this business so long that I've gone in and out of fashion," Coogan explained. "Right now, I'm kind of cool again. I mean, it's waning, but I do have residual good feelings from some people."
In May, Coogan revealed that The Trip is a very personal film for him, claiming that he made himself quite vulnerable for the movie.
He can soon be seen in What Maisie Knew, opposite Alexander Skarsgård and Julianne Moore.
