The Scream 4 actress, who will next be seen in coming-of-age flick The Art Of Getting By, stated that she refused to feel ashamed of her "really good social life".
"I didn't go to high school. I was home-schooled, but all my friends were in high school," she explained to E! "It was cool for me cause I could pick my group of friends and I didn't have to deal with the other people.
"To be honest, I had a really great social life and I was really popular. I'm not even going to lie about it. I was popular and I had a lot of friends and I had a great time and no one ever wants to admit that."
Roberts previously confessed to feeling "very frustrated" and 'misunderstood' during her teens.
She added: "I've learned that I want to have great people in my life and lots of love in my life, and just enjoy it. I wish I had realised that sooner."
The Art Of Getting By is released in the US on June 17.
